Mr Mischel Neill is a Urological Surgeon in private practice in Auckland, New Zealand. He also has a public consultant appointment at North Shore Hospital and provides acute on-call care at Auckland City Hospital.
Misch has developed particular interests in urologic oncology (cancer management) and laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, with extensive overseas postgraduate training.
He spent two years at the University of Toronto, based at Toronto General, Princess Margaret and Sunnybrooke Hospitals. This was under the supervision of programme directors Professor Laurence Klotz and Professor Michael Jewett, recognized as being amongst North America’s foremost urologists.

What happens during surgery?
Once you have decided to proceed to surgery, you'll need to learn what to expect from the surgery and create a treatment plan for the best results afterwards.

Before surgery, you will need a check up to make sure you don't have any conditions that could interfere with the anaesthetic, the surgery or their outcome. Routine tests, such as blood tests, urine tests and X-rays, are usually performed a week before the surgery.

Whether it’s a small operation or something major, having surgery means you’ll need to take time afterwards to rest and recover.
Make sure someone is available to take you home (you cannot drive for at least 24 hours due to anaesthetic medications), do not eat or drink on the trip home, avoid greasy food and only try eating when you’re hungry.
It's also essential to take your pain medicine as directed.
